Westshore plans for walkers and bicycle riders

New and exciting things are happening for Tampa’s Westshore district! Representatives from Westshore alliance, City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, have teamed up with the University of South Florida School of Architecture and Community Design (USF SACD) to create a more walkable and pedestrian oriented area. It’s a team effort with local government agencies, business and property owners, and representatives from neighborhoods surrounding the district helping with the improvements as well.

The “Westshore Public Realm Master Plan” will not only provide improvements to sidewalks, bike lanes, and streets, but also ensure prosperity of business centers located in the area. The goal is to improve pedestrian access without removing vehicle options. Westshore is filled with thriving businesses and hotels and improvements with make trips around the area a walk-in-the-park. While providing safer walkways and bikeways, the “Master plan” also involves beautification for the area. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Westshore’s vibrant urban community.
