Monday, March 20, 2017 kicks off a series of public workshops in St. Petersburg as the city moves forward with its Complete Streets Implementation Plan. According to Smart Growth America, “Complete Streets” are streets for everyone. They are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.” The workshops will be held Monday through Thursday, March 23, in various locations in St. Petersburg, making it easy for residents to attend the workshops closest to their neighborhoods.
The Complete Streets Implementation Plan will assess the current roadway and trail networks, document existing conditions and barriers, identify corridors and districts that are prime for Complete Streets improvements, identify critical links to transit facilities, establish a network of bicycle routes, identify needed facilities to make walking and bicycling safe and comfortable choices, and prioritize implementation of the identified improvements and connections needed to complete the network. The City’s final adoption of the plan is targeted for late 2017.
