One outcome of the pandemic has been a large increase in the number of Americans working from home. To help employers navigate this rapid shift, Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) has launched a Telework Certificate program. The program includes a series of five self-paced online courses to help employees and managers be successful in a remote working environment.
BWC is a nationally recognized program that supports and promotes employers offering progressive commuter benefits to their employees, including robust support for bicyclists and those who walk to work. This latest addition to BWC’s educational track addresses teleworking, another progressive commuter benefit that works in tandem with active transportation, carpooling, and transit support. With Covid-19 still a concern, many employees are offering alternatives to former routines. Walking, bicycling and teleworking are attractive options that enable employees to social distance and stay healthy.
“We expect to see a long-term shift towards telework,” said Julie Bond, Program Director for Best Workplaces for Commuters. “Our new certificate program provides the needed training for managers and employees to successfully work in a remote environment.” About 64% of BWC member employers currently offer a telework program. BWC is hosting the program in partnership with e-work.com, which has delivered coursework to over one million workers with an average 95% satisfaction rate.
BWC members receive complimentary tuition for one employee and discounts for additional participants though anyone may participate. For additional info, including a list of courses, please visit bestworkplaces.org.
