Safe Routes to School currently funds a variety education programs to encourage parents and children to walk or bike to school. The programs, led by USF/CUTR, All Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and More Health Inc., cover the following counties: Polk, Manatee, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco. Community events, like bike rodeos, help children learn bicycle skills and laws of the road. The programs also map safe routes to school, identify solutions to emerging traffic concerns, and teach safety curriculum in schools—showing children and parents that walking and biking to school is fun, safe, and cool!
