Workplaces recognized for encouraging staff to ride during 2020 bike challenges

Tampa General Hospital employees wear commemorative shirts to celebrate their achievement as one of the top workplaces in the Cycle September bike challenge.

Throughout 2020, BWTB has hosted various bike challenges using the Love to Ride platform to encourage people around the Tampa Bay region to ride bicycles to work, recreation or exercise.

Tampa General Hospital took first prize in the large employer category (2,000+ staff) for encouraging employees to bicycle during the Cycle September 2020 regional challenge, which spanned the entire month of September and included participants from the greater Tampa Bay area. BWTB Advisory Board member, Stephanie Jackson, who helped spearhead internal promotion of the challenge, along with her fellow teammates collectively rode over 2400 miles during Cycle September.

The most recent challenge, the Love to Ride Florida 2020 statewide challenge, which kicked off the week of October 30, in honor of Florida Mobility Week, and ran through the month of November. The University of South Florida achieved first place in both the regional and statewide large employer category in the November challenge.

Congratulations to these two local employers. For more information and to view additional winners, please visit BWTB’s Love to Ride challenge page or Love to Ride Tampa Bay.
