Vanpools making roads safer for bicyclists and pedestrians

Are you interested in creating a safer environment for pedestrians and bicyclists while also saving money on your daily commute? Look no further than the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) Vanpool program. Through the program, you’ll join a group of 5 to 15 people who all volunteer to participate in a ridesharing agreement to and from work in a TBARTA van. The costs, such as the monthly vanpool rate, fuel, tolls, and any other commute related expenses are shared throughout the group and van rental is on a monthly basis, so there are no long term contracts involved.

Our favorite thing about the program is that vanpools decrease cars on the road making the Tampa area safer for walkers and bicyclists. But saving money on monthly commuting costs, improving the environment, and decreasing wear and tear on your vehicle are also major perks of the program. You can organize your own vanpool or use TBARTA’s online ridematching program to find a group. Since vanpools are organized according to where you live and work, you’ll be riding with friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

With 97 vanpools currently on the road across the Tampa Bay Region, we are excited to see continued growth in this amazing program. Head on over to TBARTA.com to enter a ridematching program or to set up your own vanpool today!
