The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is pleased to announce FDOT closed on the Doubletree by Hilton Tampa Airport and Charley’s Steakhouse property.  The vision for this property is a public private partnership with facilities and amenities to complement the growth in the Westshore Business District. This includes a future intermodal center for local and regional transit services to converge.

“An Intermodal center will be the lynchpin for a seamless transit network in, around and through the Westshore Business District,” stated District Seven Secretary Paul Steinman.  The future intermodal center will be the central hub for public and private local and regional transit services. The goal is to enhance connections and increase the effectiveness of transit services within the region.

The timeframe for building the intermodal center will be based on future connectivity needs of transit systems in the Tampa Bay region and the Westshore Business District, future population and employment growth, and travel demand. The Doubletree Hotel and the locally popular Charley’s Steakhouse will continue to operate under a lease agreement.
