Work zone safety awareness is key during construction of new HAWKS on Busch Boulevard

Example of work zone safety messaging.

Great things are happening on Busch Boulevard in Hillsborough County. Construction recently began to install three new crosswalks, equipped with High-Intensity Activated crossWalK beacons, known as HAWKs. To increase safely for both motorists and road construction workers, a proactive safety awareness campaign is launching to remind motorists to slow down and be aware in work zones. Motorists traveling along Bush Boulevard are reminded to “Drive slow in work zones so we all get home,” encouraging motorists to slow down and use additional care when approaching road construction areas. Making our roadways safer for all road users is a benefit shared by everyone; improved safety for all users cannot be accomplished without the many men and women who help construct and maintain our roadways.
