December is a fantastic time to ride a bike in Florida. To encourage more people to bicycle, Bike/Walk Tampa Bay (BWTB), in partnership with the Love to Ride organization, is hosting “Winter Wheelers,” a fun ride challenge. Participating bicyclists log their bike rides on the Love to Ride website and are automatically entered into daily and larger prize drawings. The purpose of the challenge is to incentivize people to bike more often with the intention of helping adopt bicycling habits that continue well after the challenge is over.
The challenge runs December 1st through December 25th and all bicycle rides that last at least ten minutes or more qualify, whether the ride is for transportation or recreation. Though the campaign is already underway, participants are able to enroll throughout the challenge and potentially win prizes. As part of the Winter Wheelers campaign, BWTB is also offering resources to help new riders get rolling, like riding tips and recommended routes.
BWTB will host a second Love to Ride challenge in March 2020 to align with Florida Bike Month.
