Tampa Bay is steadily progressing toward bicycle friendliness and businesses are playing a key role. This summer, the League of American Bicyclists (the “League”) released the latest list of certified Bicycle Friendly BusinessesSM (BFBs), adding up to 69 total BFBs in Tampa and 48 in St. Petersburg.
More great news for the Tampa Bay region: Tampa continues to lead as the city with the most BFBs nationwide. St. Petersburg bumped up to third in the nation for the most BFBs. While many people have returned to the office, the bike boom that resulted from COVID-19 seems to still be going strong; businesses that support bicyclists help sustain this trend by making bicycling easier and more convenient for their customers and employees.
“The St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership is honored to have our work through the Car-Free St. Pete initiative recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a Silver Level Bike-Friendly Business designation,” expressed Nicole Roberts, community outreach coordinator, St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership. “We look forward to continuing our work to make St. Pete more car-free friendly for our amazing local bicycling community and beyond.”
Lucy Ziegler, manager of Hops 2.0, a new Bronze BFB to join the ranks said: “Many of our customers live in the area and ride their bicycles––they love the safe environment we provide for their bicycles!”
Congratulations to the latest Tampa Bay Bicycle Friendly BusinessesSM!
