MORE HEALTH seeks safety coordinators

MORE HEALTH, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, trains instructors to deliver interactive, exciting health education lessons to students, at no charge to school districts, through funding from local businesses, foundations, and state and federal grants. They are currently looking for adults in Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties to become Coordinators in their “On the Road for Safety” program. The program aims to train high school students as “Teen Health Educators”, who will teach pedestrian and bicycle safety to elementary and middle school-aged kids.

The program hopes to educate high school students on walking, bicycling, and driving safely while providing them with opportunities to develop their leadership and public speaking skills. The elementary and middle school students will have the benefit of receiving the education from someone they can look up to as a role model.

The Coordinators will receive training and support from MORE HEALTH, as well as a free pedestrian and bicycle safety education kit. They are tasked with helping to spread the word of the program, identify other Coordinators and teens who want to get involved, as well as help find locations for delivery of the presentations.  The presentations can be delivered not only at schools, but also at clubs, churches, or other organizations that have programs for elementary and middle school students.
